Concept

ブランド名はThread（縫い糸）と YARN（編み糸）をかけ合わせた造語です。
その名の通り、糸から素材にとことん向き合い、機能的で快適さを追求した製品づくりをしています。
実現したいのは、暮らしとともにある“いつもの一着”をつくること。そして、生産者の顔が見えるメイド・イン・ジャパンの
モノづくりを維持し、着るひと、つくるひと、未来を生きるひとにとってやさしいブランドであり続けることです。

The brand's name is a coined word combining Thread (sewing thread) and YARN (knitting thread).
As the name implies, we thoroughly explore materials from thread to create functional and comfortable products.
What we want to achieve is to create "everyday clothing" for daily life.
And by maintaining "Made in Japan" production where we can see the producers' faces,
we hope to continue to be a friendly brand to customers, manufacturers, and people living in the future.

THYARDは国内生産にこだわり、各地の生産者とつながって想いを重ね合わせながらメイド・イン・ジャパンの魅力を発信していきます。

Japan has excellent textile production areas, where elaborate techniques have been inherited from generation to generation.
While overseas production is becoming cheaper and cheaper, THYARD is firmly committed to domestic production.
We will continue to promote the appeal of "Made in Japan" by connecting with producers in each area and sharing our thoughts with them.

MADE IN JAPANへのこだわり

オリジナル素材Fölc/cottonは、丸編ニットの生産を得意とする和歌山でつくっています。明治初期にスイス製の丸編機が導入されたことで発展した、
和歌山市の丸編ニットの生産。紡績から編み立て、染色、加工などを地場で一貫しておこなう生産体制があり、地域を上げて高品質な生地づくりに取り組んでいます。
THYARDの製品は、こういった生産者の真摯なモノづくりの姿勢によって支えられています。

Our original material, Fölc/cotton, is made in Wakayama City, which excels in the production of circular knits. The production of circular knits in Wakayama City has developed since the introduction of Swiss circular knitting machines in the early Meiji era. There is an integrated local production structure that includes spinning, knitting, dyeing, and processing, and the entire region is working together to produce high-quality fabrics.
THYARD's products are supported by the sincere manufacturing attitude of these producers.

1.原料　RAW MATERIAL

綿は繊維が長いほど、細くしなやかで良質な糸になります。西インド諸島産の海島綿、エジプト産のギザ45綿、ペルー産のピマ綿、米国産のスーピマ綿などは、どれも品質に優れた超長綿です。THYARDでは製作する素材組織にもっとも適した原綿を都度、選んで使用しています。

Cotton with longer fibers becomes finer, more flexible, and better quality yarn. Sea Island cotton from the West Indies, Giza 45 cotton from Egypt, Pima cotton from Peru, and Supima cotton from the U.S. are all extra-long-staple cotton with excellent quality. THYARD selects and uses the most suitable raw cotton for each material structure.

2.紡績　YARN SPINNING

数種類の原料を混合し、繊維をほぐし、繊維の方向や長さを揃え、引き伸ばし、回転をかけ、仕上げをするといった工程を経て、一本の糸を仕立てる紡績。そのすべての工程で、職人さんの知識や技術が求められます。糸は太さ、撚り数（回転数）、加工法の違いなどで、さまざまな個性をもちます。

Through many processes, a single strand of yarn is produced. Several kinds of raw materials are mixed, fibers are loosened, the direction and length of the fibers are aligned, stretched, spun, and finishing is done. All of these processes require the knowledge and skills of the craftsman. Yarns have various characteristics depending on the thickness, the number of twists (rotation speed), and the processing method.

3.丸編み　KNITING

丸編みとは糸を螺旋状に編み上げ、円筒状に編地をつくる編み立ての手法です。円筒状になった生地を切り開き平面にして使用することで、ソフトな風合いと優れた伸縮性が生まれます。THYARDは経験と技術に優れた老舗メーカーの職人さんと話し合いを重ねて、品質のよい生地を製作しています。

Circular knitting is a technique in which yarn is knitted in a spiral pattern to create a cylindrical knitted fabric. The cylindrical fabric is then cut open and flattened to create a soft texture and excellent elasticity. THYARD produces quality fabrics through repeated discussions with craftsmen from well-established manufacturers with excellent experience and skills.

4.染色・仕上げ加工
DYEING・PROCESSING

編み立てた生地は染色・加工の工程にまわります。THYARDでは染色・仕上げ加工を得意とするファクトリーが長年培ってきた技術を用いて、職人さんと二人三脚でFölc/cottonを開発しました。心地よい風合いと、保湿・抗菌・速乾・UVカット等、高い機能性を実現しています。

Once the fabric is knitted, it goes through the dyeing and finishing process. THYARD developed Fölc/cotton in collaboration with craftsmen, using techniques cultivated over many years by specialized dyeing and finishing factories. Fölc/cotton has a comfortable texture and high functionality such as moisture retention, antibacterial, quick-drying, and UV protection.

5. デザイン・縫製　DESIGN・SEWING

この工程は、地場の縫製工場でおこなっています。生地の性質をしっかりと見極め、理論と感覚の両方を頼って、綿密に型紙をおこし、生地を裁断することが求められます。細部にまでこだわりを貫いて仕上げ、最後に丁寧に検品をしてお客様の元に届けています。

This process is carried out at a local sewing factory. It is necessary to carefully determine the nature of the fabric, and using both theory and feeling, meticulously create a pattern and cut the fabric. The garments are then carefully inspected before being delivered to the customer.
